FamAnon

What Is Famanon?

Families Anonymous is a world-wide fellowship of family members and friends who have been affected by another's abuse of mind-altering substances or related behavioural problems. Different Fam Anon member groups in various locations across the county meet frequently. Even if there is only a suspicion of a problem, any concerned individual is deeply encouraged to attend the meetings.

Fam Anon was founded by a group of American families in 1971. 1980 marked the formation of the first group in London spearheading creation of 50+ groups with common goal in different parts of the country.

The fellowship is first formulated by Alcoholic Anonymous and is a self-help organisation with a programme based on the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions.

How Can We Help?

The goal of the group is to provide a place where experiences and worries can be discussed and to assist family and friends of individuals with a current, previous or suspected drug issue by offering mutual support. The group members learn how to come to terms with the problem disturbing their lives.

Our work has shown that providing assistance to family and friends of an addict means a great deal to the person with drug related issues.

Embracing a straight and unwavering approach with the addict is what members learn when they attend these gatherings. Him/her realised that he/she needs help to live without drugs.
